just an update on my tank. I reduced my stock a bit recently becaus ei plan on making a few changes. I'm torn between a trio of angels, two rams, or maybe something else?
I was having problems with biofilm buildup but i just raised my intake and that took care of it pretty well. I'm planning on maybe adding an auto top off in the future because i lose alot of water from evap. I was also planning on getting an aquarium controller to better control my light and heaters and also give me a constant temp and ph reading. Maybe running an airstone near the surface to run at night for better gas exchange when the light are off.
Any input would be appreciated!40 Gallon Breeder Planted: harlequin rasbora rummynose tetra corydoras cherry barbs

You have a bit of out-of-wack stocking, and need more fish of the same species(this would drive Lady Hobbs nuts), but otherwise, freaking good AquaScaping skills. Teach me sir!2 pearl gourami I thought more than one caused aggression
6 harlequin rasbora I would up this to 8
4 rummynose tetra Up to 8
1 yoyo loach aquariumfish.net for more
2 subfasca loach I would get him out you need more and these are sorta out of wack
1 cae (getting him out asap) yup
8 assorted corydoras Assorted? Do they school together? If they don't, choose one species
2 cherry barbs Love schools otherwise they nip. I would get rid of these.
Love the look of the naturalness. Its Phillip, not Origami.

as of now i have
6 harlequin rasbora
4 rummynose tetra
2 cherry barb
7 cories
i'm gonna up the numbers on each a bit then probably add 2 rams.
the cories do school together for the most part (minus my old emerald and albino, they have a relationship of their own)
my 2 cherry barbs are my oldest fish and i will never get rid of them, they are so relaxed, never nip and love hanging out with my rummynose.
i got rid of the gourami because no matter how many you have they are a bit aggresive.
and thank for the comment on aquascaping!Last edited by ridgenesss; 04-03-2012 at 06:38 PM.

I would kill the six rule and make it nine.
9 Harlequins
10 rummynose
9 Cherry barb
Take only one type of corydoras unless they school together. If the species are discriminated simply, then take out 3 of them and up your false julii. I would also reccommend 10.
Then you can add your rams.Last edited by PhillipOrigami; 04-04-2012 at 04:52 PM.

it's very hard for me to keep high number of the fish i have. my lfs never likes to keep the same fish often. they also always have different types of cories.
to get more rummynose and rasbora i have to drive an hour away to another fish store. so it's not so simple. the only reason i didn't purchase 6+ of each in the first place is because all my lfs had available at the time were 6 rasbora and 4 rummynose. they haven't gotten anymore since.
also if i upped the numbers that high on each my tank would be pretty heavily stocked.
i'm leaning more towards
9 rasbora
9 rummynose
2 cherry barb
10 corydoras
2 rams
and that's pushing it to me. even though i'm sure my tank could handle the bioload.Last edited by ridgenesss; 04-04-2012 at 06:13 PM.

Two words: Order Online.
Also, why did you buy them if you KNEW you couldn't keep sufficient amounts? Its Phillip, not Origami.
