i agree with them and disagree at the same time i have 2 oscar fish in a 75g but i will need to get them in a bigger tank shortly been looking for 1 I started out with them in a 60 tall and it worked out great and they were with 4 more oscars until they paired up i kept 3 and sold the others back to the pet store my oscars now are 11 inch and 9-10 inch in my 75g wide and they have plenty of room now i would say thats why there haveing a hard time breeding but for the first year or so u would be fine in that 55g

How many oscars can I have in 6000 liter outdoor tank?
And how many would be the right amount to encourage breeding?

Unless you have a rare breed of oscar one that will sell for a lot of money - why would you want to breed oscar's. There are too many oscars in the world already. many many baby oscar's will die in tanks too small at the LFS or devlop HITH disease. I kept oscar's growing up and they are a bad first choice, unless you have a huge tank and don't mind smashed thermomaters, broken filter tubes, ect.
