    Question Glass Catfish

I have 5 glass catfish in my community tank and after around 3 weeks the are all fine but they sit ( swim ) in a decretive pot 90% of the time .

I put a couple of algae wafers in their pot at feeding time and they eat them , if their quick enough to beat the 2 Albino Rainbow sharks and the 2 Flame dwarf gourami's , that come in and eat them too.

But I have just added a serve of brine shrimp, which the population absolutely enjoyed , although the glass catfish again didn't come out their pot and missed all the shrimp with the exception of what swam into the pot.

Would black worm be more to their liking ?
Or are they getting plenty of food so therefore not needing to try and compete with the other fish ?

I would be less concerned about finding a certain type of food and more concerned about why, from a behavioral standpoint, the fish are hiding all the time. What size is the tank, and what all do you have in there? I don't know a lot about glass catfish but they're said to be pretty shy... they may be scared of the rainbow sharks (which are fairly aggressive) or other fish.

you could consider adding more of them. 5 is a pretty small school; they'd likely be more comfortable in greater numbers. You've got plenty of room in the tank so long as your filtration and maintenance are good.

They will be hiding due to the competition. They are shy fish and should only be kept with peaceful, non-aggressive tank mates.

Mine ate regular flake food with gusto, so its likely not what you are feeding them, the tank is just too busy for them to come out.

You might as well bring them back unless you like them well enough to make changes to other species in their favour.

*after seeing previous posts while I was posting*

Yes, expanding the school may help them feel more secure.
Aggression isn't really their problem, tho you never know what happens after lights out. You just have busy fish in there, and glass cats don't like a lot of activity in a tank. My 77gal community didn't have a lot of zippy fish except for a school of rasboras.

note that sheamurai has actual experience with the fish and I do not. If she thinks they're not going to do well in your tank based on the other fish you have, I believe her.

I know this is off topic, but I would also increase the bronze cory school to at least 8

    Hi Sheamurai ,

With what I have in the tank ( as posted above ) , what would you suggest ?
Is it most likely the rainbow fish of the zippy rummy nose ?

They all have been in the tank approx. the same length of time.
