moving. Need advice
Next saturday sept. the 1st I will be moving about 1 hour and 30 minutes away.
what i need to know is what is a safe way to move and transport my 2, 55 gallon aquariums and my angel fish.
I also have a empty 30 gallon that is going to move that migh come in handy during this. only thing is it's not cycled.
what should I do to ensure that my tanks remain fully cycled and hopefully not lose any fish.
thanks for any help.
Tanks in question:
this 1 I made the stand for myself.

this is a older pic it looks different now.

this one also looks different now as it is empty.

Place the fish in a bucket with a battery operated air pump to circulate the water. They should be fine in that. Make sure to keep all of your decor and filter media wet so you don't have to re-cycle.

it may not be advised, but my angels made a 5 and a half hour move in a simple bucket

I am sorry but I am no help to you. I just had to let you know that from those pictures it looks like you have three really nice tanks, and I hope the move goes well for your fish. I am sure someone here on the site has had to move with their fish before and will be along to help you soon. Good Luck!

OoOoOo. Put all the living stuff in buckets as I said, drain the water down to were there is only like an inch to keep the substrate wet and keep the filter media in little baggies with tank water. with 2 people lifting the aquarium place in be of truck or something and put like quilts or pillows around it and tie them together to keep it from bumping into anything and breaking, like another layer. I would cover it with a tarp on the way also. DON'T PUT ANYTHING ON TOP OF IT.

thanks for the help.
I had a feeling I was making a larger deal out of this than it needed to be. I just want to be safe. I think I'm mainly worried about losing my babies and my mated pairs. some of these fish I'm really attatched to.
so it goes as followes....
fish in buckets with air.
bio-filter in tank water
drain tanks down to last inch or so
MOVE!!!!!
oh and thanks for the compliments!!!!
thanks again all

I am moving to college September 1st
Anyways, you are doing a kind of big move. It is going to be stressful for the fish and if they make it there is a lot of other things you need to think about.
Moving tanks can be a trouble too. You don't know if any part of the tank is week or anything and you don't want to drop it blah blah. I am sure you will be very careful and have a sucessfull move. I would just leave like 3-4 gallons in all the tanks like kuli said to keep the substrate wet.
