    Hi all,

I am going to be building a custom glass aquarium that will be 22"length x 10" width x 46" tall.... I'm thinking that I should be useing 1/4" for this but, figured I would get some input....

    So, what ya think?

I entered that info onto here http://www.theaquatools.com/building-your-aquarium, it said 13 mm, so 1/2 an inch would be good, this site seems to have many helpful tools

. . . Have you considered how much fun that will be to clean the glass, vac, or scape?... Just saying.
    Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.

    +1

A tank that tall and narrow is going to be really hard to maintain, and you won't be able to stock many or large fish because it's only got the footprint of a 10 gallon tank. What are your plans for it?
300 gallon mega tank: sailfin pleco, clown loaches, silver dollars, roseline sharks, congo tetras, new world cichlids
125 gallon office tank: Africian cichlids, synodontis catfih
75 gallon community tank: bolivian rams, black skirt tetras, dwarf neon rainbowfish, corys, harlequin rasboras, otos, bristlenose and bulldog plecos, assassin snails, various shrimp
60 gallon goldfish tank: fancy goldfish

maybe you could make a shelf and have 2 or 3 ten gallons on top of each other if you don't have muchfloor space, like you see at fish stores, somewhat like , only of course not as big

I agree those are odd dimensions for a build..

0.5" glass is only safe for 30" tall aquariums. with your height you'll need 0.75" or thicker. glass thickness depends solely on the height of the aquarium.

First let me say, thanx for all the replies....

I just moved into a new home, I have this archway that has a pilar on either side and their is the distance I specified between the pilar and wher the wall starts... Figured it wld be cool to build up a aquarium in the opening on either side...

    Thanks...good day!!

Now that I'm thinking about this...I think I might do 3 ten gallon aquariums.... I think it will look cool too..Or maybe splitting it into two...
