You'll want to check your nitrates at that point. If your nitrates are high, you'll need to do one more water change. If your nitrates are OK, you could add some fish at any time.

Still sad news. They are not dropping.
I feel like something is keeping them high. It just doesnt feel right that as of now my nitrite levels have been high for near two Weeks.
ugh.

Sorry to hear that mizzoutank
Just curious.. what are your parameters reading? Are you still dosing ammonia when it goes back down to 0?10 Gallon: Planted Red Cherry Shrimp

I have fish in the tank right now-so I'm not adding any ammonia.
I just tested the water a few minutes ago and here are the levels:
pH: the test is weird-the pH reg reads 6.4, the High Range pH reads 7.4-7.8? the color is more red then brown...so this test isn't adding up (if you have the api freshwater master test kit-the redish color looks like the nitrate 160ppm level-so it doesnt match)
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrites: between 2ppm-5ppm
Nitrates: 5ppm
this tank has been very frustrating for the past two weeks.
My ammonia had its spike a good 3 weeks ago, and when the spike happened-it lasted 2/3 days then dropped to zero very quickly. then my nitrites held low for a week, then the spike happened. so i did water changes like i did with the ammonia spike and its held this high for 2 weeks.
i just want it to end so i can have a normal tank....its been a very long 8 weeks now.

Sorry, I thought you were doing a fishless cycle. Guess I didn't read the entire thread
I don't know what to advise since you are cycling with fish. Maybe the nitrIte stage takes a little longer because of that fact.
All I can say is that you've come this far. You are getting close to the end and keep hanging in there!10 Gallon: Planted Red Cherry Shrimp

This might sound like a stupid question, BUT, are you using a dechlorinator, like stress coat or prime, or something like that? I just read all the way through this thread and I don't see any mention of it.
