Default Help me Sex my German Blue Rams.

I just recently bought 2 German blue rams. However all of them in the tank looked the same and I couldnt tell based on belly color. Therefore I based it on their fins. I did the best I could but, I would like a second opinion.

I'm not an expert on german rams but I'd say your first pic is a male. I think there's a sticky thread in the dwarf cichlids section. Might be worth having a look to see if that can help you any? :)
    My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

I can't really tell from the pics, but I agree that the first one looks very much like a male. From all the people I've spoken to about rams, males usually have taller black spikes on their dorsal fins, and females will have black on their pelvic (?) fins.

The surefire way, and this can only be done if your rams are old enough, is to check for a pink underside. Only females develop the pink belly.

Try your best using the sticky in this forum.

See I have just the opposite because when the SM darkens his black spot has no blue spot but his pelvic fins have black on them. The SF is just the opposite. I did look at the sticky and I tried but needed more opinions

Hey sorry I didnt respond to this thread sooner, I typed out a response and all and forgot to post it!

I think the suspected male is 98% male. I see no qualities of female in it.

The other one is a bit hard to tell, she does not have a dark dot, but she has does not have a pink belly.

Have you ever seen a pink belly on the suspected female? How do they act towards each other?

well they seem to swim around by eachother and dont really do anything territorial they just seem to swim around by eachother. Also, I have not seen a pink belly, the only think that I noticed is that when she darkens her color that black dot has tons of blue in it.

I am leaning towards female, I believe time will only tell with them.

The only thing that is destroying my mind is the sticky about GBR sexing is completely contradictory to the actual fish. :P haha. Maybe I have a SHIM. How old do you think she is/and to breed? I hear different ages each site I go to.
