I don't know a lot about your fish, but I would assume a fish that big would have a pretty large bio-load. You might be better off using a sump for filtration along with getting a bigger tank.
A ~18 inch fish is likely starting to get cramped in a 48 inch tankIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Ok sounds logical, I think it might be time to sell big bazza, I just don't have the room anymore for a larger size tank. Shame though.
