Tuberculosis Treatments
Okay, I know you guys are getting tired of me talking about TB, but I'd like some things cleared up. I've read so many complex scientific papers tonight that I'm surprised my brain hasn't exploded. I even got into genes, DNA sequences, and other boringly complicated things. According to the scientific papers, M. marinum, although resistent to several types of drugs, is treatable with sulfonamides, tetracyclines, rifampin, and ethambutol. Is this true? I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Despite popular belief, only a rare strain of M. marinum can infect humans.

And do you know without a doubt what your tank is infected with? Are you willing to chance it?
You received unanimous advice on what to do in these two threads.

Just to echo the advise already given, Take the tank down and bleach or replace everything. Don't risk your health
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

I'm quite perplexed; spend valuable time and money researching such chemicals and trying to get your hands on them to save what is left of your tank over nuking the entire tank or starting from a clean slate? Nuking the tank will be much cheaper than a life full of expensive doctor visits and tests.

To say nothing of the suffering fish.
We had a member here a few years back that got TB in his tank. He nuked the tank, restocked and his second group also contacted TB. He ended up using the tank for just plants. THAT'S how bad this virus is. I believe it would take disinfecting the entire tank. Perhaps running bleach thru the whole thing and everything in the tank for a few days. I don't know how the other guy did it.Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••
