Thanks Rue! I keep looking to see if they have latched onto a snail yet.. But so far no luck. Maybe after lights out they'll go at them.

I have never personally seen my assassin eat a snail. I know that he does because of all the shells everywhere. They are great at hiding. They like to burrow in the substrate.
Lots of tanks. Some tanks are planted. Fish include community and bettas.
2 Dachshunds. Angel (Red) and Cookie (Chocolate Dapple).
Shiny Things and Beauty the rabbits.
RIP Princess and Max the Dachshunds, Tiger and Ping Pong the rabbits, and all the fishes from when I was a newbie.
It is Ldoerr NOT Idoerr.
Black kitten named Midnight that was found 10/29/12

Hmm that's too bad. My snails like to hang out on my driftwood with my one cherry shrimp. Haha Haven't seen them burrow into the substrate yet though.

Just so you know, assassain snails will eat assorted gunk, like other snails, when they run out of live food. They'll also breed, but very slowly, and you need a male/female pair. If you do have a pair, in a couple months or so you'll see another little killer. They won't take over your tank, but they breed fast enough to keep a population going.

Yeah good to know. I could always add more snail infested plants when the current ones die.. Haha just kidding!
I'm not sure if I have a male and a female. Not really sure how you could tell. It would be kinda cool if they were though!

Great news everyone! Another RCS came out of hiding today. So now I have one male & one female that I know of. I actually order some more off AB so we shall see how that goes.. Maybe it'll make them more adventurous. I'm excited, I love these little guys. :)

Hey everyone!!!
I know its been a LONG time since I've updated here. Partially because I started a new job that required a lot of my time and now I have just started the Respiratory Therapy program at school.
With that said my fish are still doing very well! I did loose my gourami a ways back for some odd reason but I had a feeling he wasn't doing to well from the get go. All the other fish don't really seem to miss ole' frank anyways.
From the last time I had updated several changes have been made to my tank. I got rid of all the ludwig, but quite frankly they just didn't look good & I think I had a phantom fish that enjoyed munching on the leaves so they looked dead. I have had great success with growing wisteria so I bought several bunches of them and they are growing great! I also got some jungle val that haven't really done anything spectacular (which every review I read said they would grow fast but mine haven't!)
I ended up getting rid of the frogbit too because they weren't growing either and I think my betta kept eating at them.
Here's the updated tank:

I also got 2 more assassin snails because I had yet another wave of pond snails sweep through. They are on their way out now though! I also found a little baby assassin snail too. (So THAT explains why I haven't seen the snails around...)

And lastly, I cleaned my tank last night and what not but now my water is all cloudy this morning... I checked all the water perimeters and everything is still perfect...I'm really hoping it'll settle down soon!
Here's a picture of the current predicament. :(

P.S. Not sure anyone else noticed but my tank kinda looks bare at the bottom.. I'm not sure if I have a fish that's eating the bottom leaves off the plants or if thats just because the plants are still kinda acclimating and growing stronger at the tops and just need to be replanted..?
