  1. Default Advice on adding another fish

hey guys so here we go my current setup is a 60 gallon tank which contains 1 gold fish 1 bala shark and 1 pleco they have been together for about 4 years now im thinking of adding maybe a type of eel if possible if adding another will harm them then i wont add it but if it is possible can i have advice on what i would need to do, and if i need to go bigger tank then i wont bother money is tight right now and the gold fish and bala prolly are about 3 inchs and the pleco maybe 7inchs just a estimate guess

Ok, before we get down to recommending what to add, lets find out more on your set-up... Filter type? Heated? Goldfish / bala??? You've got cold water and tropical all under one roof! With that being said, let's talk about that bala shark. There's a couple problems here with it. First off, I hope your temp is @79 degrees for it. Also, they will stress , sicken, and likely die when not kept in groups. Here's the big catch... They get huge, fast! Over a foot in just a few years. If yours really is four years old and only 3" long, somethings wrong. I'm sorry to say, as nice as a 60g is in this hobby, it just isn't enough for keeping bala sharks. You sure you want to add to this tank? If you're going cold water- rehome the bala shark, if your going tropical- rehome the bala shark and the gold fish. There's tons of options for a 60g, imo, just not balas.

hey i originally had just the gold fish and a guy at my work got rid of his tank and prolly end up killing the bala and pleco so i took them cause i didnt want them to die so i just put them in my tank and all 3 seem healthy and get along yes there is a heater and is heated to proper setting in the 60g i have running 2 filters
marineland biowheel power filter penguin 350 70gallon filter

marineland biowheel power filter emperor 280 50 gallon filter

now if it is a problem i wont add anymore but i dont want either fish to die

i dont know if these pics will help here is couple pics when i had them in a 30 gallon, i got a 60gallon which was all i can afford right now

i apologize i just did a more accurate measure the bala is 7 inches and the gold fish about 6 and the pleco well just under 10 inches

Yesterday in your other thread here you corrected your statements by saying your tank was actually 70G instead of 60G - Tonight you are back to 60G.

Please post the dimensions of your tank to clear this up.

None of your pics are showing up, Please take newer ones at any rate as information relating to the current setup is far more relevant.

Ah- ok, I didn't catch that you were referring to the filter as opposed to the tank.

Where are your pics? [Preferably some new ones as the older ones are not really relevant]

hey guys so i came to conclusion im gonna separate the gold fish from the bala, so in the 60 gallon tank i will have the bala shark and the pleco and in my other tank i will have the goldfish my question is should i add another fish with th bala and pleco or just let them be how they are

I wouldn't add any new fish to the bala & pleco - a 7in fish will make a meal of any smaller fish and I've read that they can be quite aggressive.
