I had asked some questions in a few other area's on this forum to get this tank up and running correctly and so far it has been going swimmingly .
I had acquired this tank from a friend and cleaned it out, re-sealed the corners and set it up in my livingroom. I was able to get some used filter media from another friend and have been doing a fishless cycle since Monday 1/23. My ammonia is just starting to drop and I have seen a very slight increase in nitrites.

This is what the tank looked like on 1/24 and then today 1/28 during the day and night. I am excited to start seeing changes happening!

This is my first tank and I am waiting for it to cycle, so I decided to see if I would be able to get some live plants in there instead of buying a bunch of fake plants.
My question is: I have a single 40 watt fluorescent bulb that came with the tank, is there any plant that can grow successfully with that? And if not, what type of bulb should I upgrade to? Everything I am reading is saying not to look at watts anymore but use another scale to determine lighting needs and I am a bit confused. Any help is appreciated!
