  1. Default Problems with lobster

We have a 45ga tank that is currently occupied by a lobster (about 4-5 inches long, excluding the claws), 4 community fish that are 1.5-2 inches long, and 3 neon tetras (and two snails).

Long story short, two months ago we had 8 neon tetras. Our friendly lobster has gobbled up the rest. Iím wondering about moving him or other fish. We have another tank with two koi (4-6 inches long). Iím wondering if I shouldnít put them in with the lobster, and move the community fish and tetras into that other tank. The two koi are in that separate tank because they bully other fish.

    My questions:
    1. Since this lobster has left the smaller community fish alone, is it reasonable to assume that heíd leave the larger koi alone? They do like to forage along the bottom for food, however, and thereís no way I want to risk losing them (those two koi have been with us for a couple of years).

    2. What sea creatures would be a good fit for this lobster? Iíd hate to have to limit his range by putting a divider in, although itís looking like that is my only option.

Crayfish will naturally snatch and eat any fish they can. Don't know where you got it, but I'd return it before you lose more neon tetras. Crayfish forage night and day, so it'll eat the neons when they are sleeping at night.

OK I think the only way out (I don't want to return any of my fish, like them all) is to pair up my lobster with the two koi. The two koi are larger than other fish in my large tank now, whom the lobster has left alone, so I'm thinking he'll do the same with the koi.

However, I'd hate to find out that they don't mix.... has anyone tried this, or is there a reason why he might go after the koi?

any fish that is too big for a crayfish to eat will instead be a danger to the crayfish when it molts. Crayfish simply do not make good tankmates with fish.
