    Default Light Strip Addition

So, i have a 29 gallon tall tank, and i had a dual 18" T8 strip on the top, but it just wasn't enough for me. I looked at it and thought to myself, i could make this a lot better for cheap. So i went to the local light store, bought myself two sockets for a t8 bulb($2.79), i recently replaced my ballasts a while ago and had one left over ballast that was still good. So i ripped it apart, did a little cutting and encouraging and came up with this.

I think it looks very professional since i managed to encourage everything to stay behind the stock backing. I have two 18" Floraglow T8 bulbs, and one 18" Powerglow T8. I am at 45 watts of power, but that's still not enough for me, i'm looking to upgrade and put some LED's in the sides of the strip where there's room.

    Here's the total cost.

    Bulb $20
    Ballast $15
    Sockets $3

$38 to put the additional bulb in my strip!

Before spending much more on that strip, check out your local hydroponics store for single strip T5HO fixtures. That and a decent reflector should run in the $30. - $40. range for nominal 24" and $50.00 for nominal 48".
