  1. Default Using liquid plant food during the cycle?

I have a few different plants in my aquarium thats cycling, a few anubias and a few anacharis. i picked up some API liquid plant food, but I am unsure if I should add it while the tank is cycling. will it adversely effect the cycle?

  2. Default

no, i don't think it will affect the cycle. it's just liquid ferts. just that, it might inhibit excessive algae growth. basically you only need liquid CO2 for a cycling tank with plants, as there are a lot of nutrients in a cycling tank.

proof of that is when i was cycling my tank and i added regular ferts, i only added a lot of algae on the tank as well.

I personally wouldn't bother until the cycle has finished. The plants aren't going to die if they go a couple weeks without ferts. With water changes all the time, it's only wasting the ferts. But regarding your question, no, it will not "hurt" anything.

I don't do water changes yet, since I'm doing a fishless cycle. i will add a little bit and see what happens.

You may not need to dose a lot of ferts. The plants will also use some the ammonia while you are completing the fishless cycle
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
