Local Sand
So many months ago I pulled a bucketload of sand from a creek near my parents house. I did a vinegar test, no fizzing or anything. Boiled the sand to sanitize it. Along with a ph test over the course of a few hours and didn't see any noticeable changes.
I planned on using the sand as substrate in my 20 gallon, but never got around to it. But, as my plant population is increasing (along with my want of more Harlequin Rasboras) I'm thinking about using the sand.
Now to the main question, should there be any other tests I put this sand through to make sure its safe to use? I'm very fond of Player Red and Player Blue, and don't want to end up killing them with my cheapness.

Should be fine to use, you did the important thing that is you killed whatever may have been living in the sand. I believe there are other folks in the atlanta fish club that have used sand from local streams as well. You can always just go to home depot and buy pool filter sand or play sand, for around $6 you can get 50pounds or more.
By the way check out the local fish club http://www.atlantaaquarium.com/forum/ the club meets each month, usually a speaker about some topic, then an auction with whatever people bring in. Also 2 large auctions each year.
