Botia do breed in aquaria, usually in large planted tanks, but they have to mature. No one I know, myself included, has seen them breed; I found several B. dario youngsters swimming 'round in a filter when I specialized in Botia. When, how and where the parents bred I'll never know.
I've also read of an aquarist who found several dozen young clown loaches when he pulled up the plants in a tank.
