  1. Smile I Got More Fish!!!!

In spite of the unexpected expense that popped up a couple of days ago I stopped by PetSmart just to see what they had in stock today. Well... I've been wanting 15 Harlequin Rasboras to occupy the mid to upper portion of my tank and guess what????? They had EXACTLY 15 left in the tank!!!! So of course that was my sign that those were for ME

I quickly scooped them up and also bought an Aquaclear 20 for my QT. My new additions are currently in my "New Fish Only" Bucket drip acclimating for my QT tank.

Got a quick question.... I already have extra sponges from my cycled and stable 65 gallon tank that I put in my new filter but the sponge doesn't fill the entire media compartment in the new filter. I'm wondering if I should just put the new bio-balls in with the cycled media or put the sponge that came with the new filter in with my cycled media? Not sure if putting in something new with the old will effect my cycled media or not. Advice please....

Anyway... I'm so excited It's been over a year since I bought new fish.

You'll be cycled with the old media from your 65's filter. The new media will just be a place for the bb to start growing on. Any pictures when they get put into the tank?

The only way you would lose the bacteria you already have is if you would replace your current media with the new stuff but that is not what you are going to do.

Thanks guys The cycled media is on the bottom and new media on top. Just finished my drip acclimation and netted the little guys into their temp home: the QT with lights out. All are happily swimming around. I'll be sure to check things daily and also make my water changes as needed.

I'll take pics of them once they are all moved into the main tank in a couple of weeks. Not sure if I remember how to load the pics on here but I have plenty of time to read up on it before I do.
