feeding bettas
Hi all,
I am wondering how most people feed their bettas? I feed mine 3 pellets twice a day. I don't want to over feed, or under feed. what do you think?

I usually give mine 4 pellets per day. Occasionally I give him a split pea - which he loves. Once in a blue moon he gets a little bit of bloodworms.

I hate to appear really dumb, but are you talking about one pea taken out of the bag and put in the tank? I have a 10 gal with divider. If this is true, I will give each one a pea. I assume this is a treat.

3-5 pellets once daily. I sometimes substitute a few freeze-dried bloodworms or a few spirulina flakes for variety.
8 tanks running now:
1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.

they love frozen brine too, if you care to give them a treat once in awhile.
Mine is in a community tank, so she eats everything she wants, and is fat.
Only fed once per day, tho.

I feed mine once a day, alternating throughout the week between 5 different foods. When using pellets, he gets 5 pellets a day. With flakes, he just gets a teensy bit, not even a pinch really. Roughly, a fragment about 2-3 times the size of his eye. With frozen bloodworms he gets 3-4 worms a day. And one day a week he fasts, and is fed nothing.

Blanched split peas - about once a week I feed all my tanks a couple of split peas - you just take the skin off first. I warm mine up just a tad bit in running water since I keep them in the fridge. I have read in numerous places that it helps them keep from being constipated.

True, it does help and is considered by many to be a treatment for bloat.

I feed mine once a day... 3-6 pellets depending on the betta and a small pinch into the big tank, since there are eight female bettas inside. Every now and then they get some bloodworms, and some brine shrimp once in a while as a treat. Peas whenever there's some left over from dinner, served warm
