When talking about Simon Pegg and Nick Frost movies you have to include the movie Paul, one of my favorites...

Oh yeah, that was a good one, I just couldn't remember the name and too lazy to look it up so I just left it out of my list. LOL

Saw Snowpiercer on an online while at the theater rental.

Its weird. I was kind of expecting weird but artsy and perhaps deep, because I can totally get into that sort of movie. The visuals and the acting wasn't bad, some of the dialogue was pretty good. But it just didn't quite raise above weird.

Actually saw it twice because a certain other party in the household fell asleep the first time. So there were some subtleties you pick up rewatching, but not enough to make you go "OH HOooooooo!" just get to the end and very disappointed.

My wife doesn't get it either. She hates fantasy and sci-fi, doesn't find them believable and won't even entertain watching most of it. lol

I thought Paul was somewhat disappointing, too. I think Sean of the Dead and Hot Fuzz really amped up my expectations for the rest of their movies. =/

Not even Alien? Bladerunner? The original Star Wars? Metropolis? Ahhhh...she's missing out.

I can understand not liking a particular genre very much (I myself am not a fan of rom coms) but one must still be able to appreciate the work of art when it is done to such critical acclaim. How about dystopian literature? 1984?

There are exceptions to the rule (the above are not among them). lol She hates alien, bladerunner and star wars. I don't think she's seen Metropolis. She's also not a fan of 1984.

Some exceptions are (oddly): War of the Worlds, some super hero movies (like Captain America, Avengers & Iron Man), and the show Falling Skies. (again)

    Defiance - Season 1:

Hubby likes to watch some TV in the evenings when he's home. And since there are no more rental stores...and since we don't get adequate internet service...and hate 'on demand'...we have resorted to buying movies and/or series as our TV fix...

We started watching Defiance last night. I think - in this instance - it might actually be better to watch a season all at once vs. weekly episode...they've created a complicated world...maybe a couple too many alien species?

It's kind of like watching Falling Skies...except 30 years down the road...

...so Kevin? Your wife might like it!

    Been watching: The Strain

One word comes to mind, Disappointing. Well maybe two words, disappointing and Predictable. This had all the earmarks of being a phenomenal series, I'm so bummed out. 😞
