I saw Warhorse the other day. It was a really good movie and well done, but being a horse lover it tore me up to see the horrors those poor horses went through. I'm so glad horses aren't used for battle anymore. I can't say that I'd like to see the movie again, once was enough.

If you enjoyed the Swedish version, this is not better or worse, just different. In places its more faithful to the book, in others less faithful.
Finally! THAT explains it...a couple of us were puzzled...we were sure we had already seen it .

    Thanks.

Hehe, Yea, that's an understatement. I really feel like that movie was an abomination, undeserving of ever existing. I will never watch another movie that contains the lead actor, as a result. It was def. an insult to anyone from Michigan.

don't laugh. But I recently saw "Kung Fu Panda 2"...

and it was excellent. It just came out on dvd, so I guess it's old news, but it's probably the best movie I've seen recently and the only one worth mentioning. The voice acting was amazing, and I think a lot of the animation is motion-captured and just stunning. Also...Gary Oldman as an evil peacock? How could that not be awesome?

It is technically a kid's movie, so it has it's cheesy moments and, of course, the talking animals, whatever, but it's a genuinely good film and I recommend it to everyone.

    I just saw "Snatch".
Unless you liked Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barrels, don't bother with it.
I know some here liked the movie tho, so if you liked that, Snatch is right up your alley!

I thought lock, stock, and 2 smoking barrels was just plain terrible. And I love 90s movies, but it was sooo boring!

The most recent movie I saw was Moneyball, a movie about the Oakland Athletics putting together a winning team on a small budget using computer analysis and statistics. It was a good movie, but I wish they would have given more details on the actual statistics they were using and how they were using them. They kinda glossed over the details with a wave of the hand in the movie. Also, at times I couldn't help but compare it to the movie Major League, even though this movie wasn't a comedy. But I enjoyed the movie. 3 out of 4 stars.

Also, for the Sherlock Holmes fans out there, I highly recommend the TV show Sherlock. Truly good stuff. The second season should be starting in the next month or two.

I just saw "The Rise of The Planet of The Apes".

it was good on the action side and relating to chimps as they always end up in a lab for testing.

but then, there was really no story to it rather than infecting this guy with the disease and passing it onto the general that coincidentally is going out of the country. and so on and so forth (you know what's next). if you know what i mean, there was no story that is supporting the title except of the scene i said. and that disease, the apes are immuned so far if i understood it correctly.

anyways. i'm impressed by the graphics, and mostly the person that was being the ape (or chimp... i dunno) other than that... not really good for a start (or next chapter?) to a sequel.

I don't go to the theater nowadays (last one was the second Harry Potter movie many years ago) because most movies in the theater use shouting, nudity and over-the-top special effects instead of acting and a good story. Have a ton of DVDs in my collection, so can watch one of them if I want to watch a decent movie.

As to Sherlock Holmes, Jeremy Brett's version of the detective-that-never-lived, on the BBC, in the 80's is far superior to any since, IMHO. The Canon agrees with me.
