just got myself an xmas gift.

moss ball, ive always wanted one, never had the will to pay 15 bucks for one. 5 is a fair price i think (for in the store) for a 1.5" diameter ball.

im hoping my lighing is good enough. 18W t5 6500k (single) in my 29g. yell at me if you want but it was an impulse buy as i havent researched it too well lol. the person did say my barbs might pick at it and gave me some advise saying my lighting should be fine with it.

Marimo "moss" balls aren't really moss... they are a special form of algae.

I love mosses. My driftwood and rocks have java and fire moss tied to them. I've never had a moss ball or as Trill says an algae growth.

im hoping this will help take some nutrients away from my diatoms. 1 yr into the tank and its still having issues.... and yes i keep my tank very well managed lol. if it does good this month i might get a 2nd.
