A bad case of fungus that must be treated very soon. I would not bother with Melafix or Pimafix in this advanced stage but get a medication that will really go after it. There are several on the market and Methylene Blue is just one of them.

This is a bacterial disease, commonly known as fungus (probably due to the cottony growth) or columnaris. Check the following link -

If possible, QT the infected fish immediately and start treatment. The infection can spread to healthy fish.Last edited by vinodjbhatia; 12-19-2011 at 07:54 AM.

As soon as I saw the hint of growth on the fish I immediately put him in a QT tank and started treatment...the 2nd one showed the same signs and out him in there too...i think because the first one had it so bad, the second one got it just as bad....they both died......couldnt save them....everything i did for treatment didn't work. My 60 gallon seems to be fine...its been 2 weeks and no signs of disease on any other fish.
