I have a new tank, 3weeks and it's smelling. Is there something natural that I may have in my cupboard that I could use?

Have you cycled your tank or is it still cycling? Fish or no fish? What does it smell like?
    75 gallon planted
    5 gallon planted betta
Lack of planning on your part doesn't justify an emergency on my part.

It is still cycling. I have a cichlid. It has an underground filter and a powerhead. I haven't used the quick filter but intend to tomorrow.

What kind of cichlid? What size is the tank?

healthy fish tanks do not smell. If your tank has a bad odor it's a sign that something needs fixing.
300 gallon mega tank: sailfin pleco, clown loaches, silver dollars, roseline sharks, congo tetras
75 gallon community tank: black skirt tetras, danios, bronze corys, harlequin rasboras, otos, bristlenose and bulldog plecos, assassin snails, red cherry shrimp, bamboo shrimp
60 gallon goldfish tank: fancy goldfish

    It's a 35 gal. The fish is a Jack Dempsey. About 31/2-4in.

Do you have sand in the tank. Gas pockets can build up in the sand and smell rotten. Your tank is going to be too small for that fish, tho.
