10 gallon tank I have now
hey all, I had posted about having white clouds in a fish bowl but other members said that wasn;t a good idea. maybe if I got around 4 along with some glass fish,
guppies and neon tetras plus the catfish in my 10 gallon aquarium. is that overdoing it? I am new to this hobby and I would like to have these fish. Any advice as to how many of each I should get? I have 3 guppies and 1 cory catfish in that tank now. any helpful advice is appreciated. thanx.

That is TOO MANY FISH for a 10 gallon. As a general rule, 1 inch of fish PER GALLON of water. NOW that's not necessarly always the case because you wouldn't put a 10 inch fish in a 10 gallon, but you could have 10 1 inch fish in a 10 gallon. Neons and Guppies would be 1 inch fish, White Clouds are a couple of inches I think...a catfish is a few inches, glass fish are 2 inches...THAT and ALLLL of these fish are SCHOOLING fish, which means they NEED To have at least 5 of each fish to be happy. SOOOO that means you COULD add a couple of more Guppies, OR a small school of neons OR a copule of tetras...notice I said OR not and....
Of course, you could always be stubborn, throw all the fish in that you think you WANT, then let them die from stress...but that's your choice I guess.10 Gallon FW with Male Betta, 1 male Endler, and 5 Zebra Danios, 100 Gallon with Sevs, Acaras, Parrots and Loaches.
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming...

I agree with Sarah, too many fish for the 10 gal. I think maybe a few more guppies and a couple more cories would be nice

Completely agreed with the ladies above. You need to add more corys as they like to school, so maybe 2 more of those minimum, preferably more like 4 more. Add 2 guppies and you'd be full. As you become more experienced you might be able to put more like 12 small, 1-inch fish in there, but please avoid doing so as a beginner.
8 tanks running now:
1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.

Amen, if you want more fish, a new tank is a must. My 10g has 3 coys, 5 glowlight, and a platy and that is overstocked a little.

Ok im not here to tell you what fish to get and not get but i would definitly NOT get glassfish with colors on their layout. Those fish will not live long, the color will fade, and they were actually not born like that. They are DYED.

okay, then. You guys are right. too many fish. I had been thinking about the amount and I decided that the guppies, 1 catfish, and white clouds would be plenty. oh, and (sigh) one of my guppies (the one that was sick) died this morning, so now I only have 2 guppies. in the 10g I will sometime get 2 more guppies, and 4 white clouds. Is that still too many? let me know. right now, I have the 2 guppies and the cory catfish in the 10g.

well, yeah, I know about that. It is not their natural color but I wasn;t planning on the dyed ones. the ones I saw in the store were not dyed. I personally think they are fine the way they are naturally. cute and pretty WITHOUT the dye. But I will wait until I have a bigger tank to get those. and more moolaa (money).

your number 1 priority should be getting your cory some company. it is possible for the fish to be really depressed and even waste away and die without company from his species. Add 2-4 more fish. Then consider guppies or something else. Guppies will interact but they are not so dependant upon it so its okay if you just keep the 2.
