New to AC and aquariums
Well, not TOTALLY new... but keeping a couple of goldfish isn't the same thing. I will "boast" about keeping 4 feeder goldfish alive for 5 years in a 10 gallon tank. Said tank recently met its demise, so the goldfish have gone to a pond home, and we're starting anew with a 20 gallon tank (all we have room for).
I've already made more than one mistake... I have one pleco, 5 cherry barbs, 4 black neon tetras, and 4 tiger barbs (cringe) sharing the tank. The fish were acquired before I did any basic research. I'm watching carefully for aggressive behavior from the tiger barbs, but they seem to be co-existing well at the moment.
What I want to do is switch to a planted tank. There are two live plants in there now, in the plastic pot-thingies they came in, plus some arachanis floating around. Is there a good way to gradually switch a tank over to a planted environment?

Hello Hendy and welcome to AC, do you know about cycling your tank? If not you may have overstocked your tank and be headed for trouble, should be able to work through it with some persistence. For a planted tank I would start with your substrate, IMO this erik be the biggest upset to your tank. Before you buy any more plants I would head over to the planted forum read up on the stickies there and ask if have any questions. I'm still new to AC but everyone here has been very helpful.

welcome to the forums, post your question in a different section and im sure some very smart people will help you in a jiff... two words about tiger barbs demon seed.... mine cant even relax while sick.... hope yours stay mellow.

Welcome to the community.
Is that a common pleco? If so, 20g may be too small for that fish as it can grow quiet large. You need to add more tiger barbs to reduce their aggression.
