Here is an excel sheet that I'm using to record my levels. The bacteria is taking care of the ammonia in less than 24 hours. Just waiting for those nitrite levels to drop.

I'm thinking i will be able to have to tank cycled by tomorrow. Just in need of a large water change. Then I will begin to monitor pH.

The tank is cycled. It only took 7 days. (Put those words back in your mouth, Idoerr :P)
I'm feeding very, very small doses of ammonia now twice daily until i get fish. I think I will go to a LFS tomorrow (instead of Petsmart / Petco). I haven't been there yet, but I have emailed them and they seem to be the best around. Check them out and tell me what you think!

Finally I have fish! I stocked the tank very heavily and all at once, but I think it will be okay because I did fish-less cycling. Here is my stock:

    16 neon tetras
    3 albino cory catfish
    2 male guppies
    2 dwarf african frogs
    1 powder blue dwarf gourami

    I'll post pictures soon.

How is the tank cycled in 7 days? Did you seed it from another filter? It usually takes a tank between 4-6 weeks to fully cycle. And stocking heavily after a 7 day "cycle" can overwhelm the bacteria to the point where it can't keep up and you start losing fish.

Yes. I used an entire filter cartridge from an Aqueon 10 filter (it was used, nasty and full bacteria of course). It fit perfectly into my AquaClear 70 media basket. I was also skeptical of how fast it completed. So I gave it a couple more days after I thought it was cycled just to make sure I didn't get any spikes or drastic changes in pH. Then I added the community that I have now.

I am keeping an especially close eye on the water parameters this first week.
