Thanks! No not at all, I seeded the filter with a bunch of media from my 50g and I just need something alive in there to keep it alive. I feel bad for those 4 neons I rescued them from my friend who was going to through them away and they have basically been doing cycle duty every since, they'll have a permanent home soon though lol.

Occys and brevis are both good choices IMO. Can't see the pics but I will check when I get home.

Any outcasts you may get will gladly take up residence in caves or lace rock. I usually get a male or two exiled from the colony once every 6 months.

Looks good! Just make sure the rocks are fairly divided from the shells. With a footprint that small, you probably want to stack all the rocks on one side and the shells on the other. As the colony grows there might be a space problem, but you can address that when you get there. When I had occies, one of the male would chase the other one from 2-3 feet away sometimes (this was in a 125G, so there was plenty of room).

Also there is an unwritten rule, when you first add the shellies, it is a REALLY good idea to just not look at them for the first 2-3 days. Watching them claim turf is brutal and you will find yourself wanting to tap the glass or rearrange things every 20 minutes. This is totally normal and they rarely get seriously inured, but it can be really painful to watch.

Thanks scrup! Yea as I was saying I went ahead and picked up a 29g for them so they can spread out a bit more. I also got more rock so I can build a real rock formation. I definitely decided on the occies, they are by far my favorite. I was gonna keep some Julies too but I think i've decided against that, id rather see a real occie community form with fry I can sell lol.

The Occys will also vigorously defend their shells from the hand monster. Pretty fun doing water changes. The bites don't hurt but they will make you jump if you aren't expecting it.

First pics of the 29g! (Just crappy iphone pics for now) I love going overboard lol. Its so much bigger I feel like I need some more shells. To start the tank I have 10 white clouds and 1 calvus, still need to order the shellies. Cycle isn't an issue, I seeded the entire filter with media from my 45g.

Always like the look of the rimless tanks. You can never have too many shells, get a bunch and pile them up!

Its actually just a normal petco tank. Just takes about 4 hours of elbow grease and some razor blades and its a rimless!
