  1. Default Mylar Reflector Supplier

I am gutting two old 36" T-12 aquarium light fixtures and reusing the hood. I am going to install the standard base lamps and use CFL's.

Ideally I would like to use metal reflectors but have no clue where I could find any that fit my hoods. i could use aluminum foil but I think reflectiv Mylar would provide greater reflective properties.

I only need a little, 35 inches x maye 24 inches. All of the online suppliers I found so far sell it in large rolls. Any ideas where I can buy it locally or online without breaking the bank?

Also if anyone knows, how does Mylar compare to aluminum foil as far as percent of light reflected?

Thanks, I will. That is what I am looking for. My online search tended to point to green house suppliers and florists, but every product was by the roll. Even the smallest rolls were a lot more than I'll ever need.

Flat white paint is more reflective than mylar. Gloss white is 2nd in reflectivity.

I never thought about painting the plastic fixture housing, but would be an easy solution.

There is a enamel line that us model builders use for natural metal finishes. Brand is Alclad II. The site: http://alclad2.com/. The Chrome color is highly reflective, and if you have access to an airbrush, would give you just what you need for your light fixture.
