water parameters
Hi all.
I've just converted a 75 gallon Oscar tank to an African Cichlid tank. I would like to have a community of these bad boys in there. What are some good water parameters to have? I know I need a higher pH like around 8.2, but what should I be aiming for in regards to KH and GH?
Thanks!30g: 12 Tiger Barbs, 1 Pleco, 2 tetras, 1 Julii Cory

For just about any rift lake cichlid, they will adapt to a broad range of parameters. I think too much stock is put into the so called "perfect" parameters. If you keep the water at 7.5 and above with decent hardness, you'll be fine. My pH is 8, and the KH is 75-80 and GH is 180. A couple of well known breeders/importers I've spoken to have conditions close to mine. I have tank raised, F1, and wild caughts, and all of them are healthy active and breed regularly.
11 tanks, 5.5g up to 125g(2). Mbuna, Haps, Peacocks, Tangs, wild caught to tank raised!
