    Default 55 gallon filtration

ok so i have a 55 gallon to be stocked with

    4 socolofi
    4 zebra (2 ob, 2 red)
    4 auratus
    4 maingano
    4 yellow lab

all are juveniles 1-2" max, and all have been ordered and are seperated out at my lfs waiting for my tank to finish cycling.

i have a marineland filter rater up to 90-gallons at the moment. what i was wondering is what sort of extra filtration i could add that wouldnt cost alot of money, but would be very effective.

i plan on adding a powerhead at some point and was thinking of using some sort of canister as my secondary filtration.
    Coastie-to-be... hopefully.

That seams like a sizable bio-load to me.

I would recommend a rena XP3 for a secondary filter. I have a XP as a secondary filter on my 90 gallon and I really like it.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

i feel that with that setup your tank will incur losses, 20 mbuna in a 55 is a lot IMHO. and the list is great-except for the auratus. they are rough guys. i have 3 125 gal tanks with an average of 12 adult mbuna and none seem empty. now that they are breeding the tanks population is growing fast. you might want to reconsider the auratus.
