Anyone hear of this filter?
Has anyone heard about this filter? Is it good? Bad? Easy to install?

I am thinking about changing to a different filter. I currently have 2 Marineland Penguins with bio wheels///each filter is for a 50 gallon tank...I currently have a 60 gallon tank.
Thanks =)

Ok so I do not own one but the following things stick out for me:
So physical filtration is not covered at the cost and you will still need to have another filter of some sort at the very least for physical filtration of particles. The Aquaripure operates independently of physical filtration and some sort of physical filtration should continue to be used to remove larger particulate matter.
Additionally they are selling it on that they have a feeder system where you have to mix up a solution to feed the bacteria that is living in the filter that is supposed to eat Nitrates. But its a bit hidden as to what those are then turned into. And you are still going to need to gravel vac to get particles out of your gravel.
So to me while its an interesting thing to look at, it sounds like its actually adding more work to the filtration. Also it is more expensive than a comprable fluval, eheim or rena filter... like $100 more expensive.

Plus1 to Trill's post.
I too was interested in that filtration device but after considering the "what it doesn't do factors" I bought a canister filter to run beside my Marineland Penguin 350 with bio-wheels.
I haven't been tempted to change since.Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..

What does everyone think of the canister filter? Are they hard to use? messy?

They are not messy. They are not hard to use.
They really circulate the water in your tank.
With a bucket handy, they are easy to clean.
You can add all kinds of neat stuff to the inside of the canister.

I wouldn't touch that filter with a 10 foot pole. Go with a canister from a reputable brand like Fluval or Eheim (my personal favorite).
8 tanks running now:
1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.

I have used almost every type of canister out there and I definitely prefer the Fluvals by far.

If someone gave me that filter, I'd try it, but I'm not going to drop $300 for it. It looks like it's supplemental filtration to solely reduce nitrates and the need for water changes. Problem is, there is stuff other than nitrates that build up that wc remove.

Every Fluval has been a hassle, clips break, o-ring won't seat, etc. EHIEM is the only way to go, reliable, easy to use and dead silent, last you a lifetime as well. You get what you pay for...
