Happy Birthday Spider Man

Well if my memory serves me correct this month marks the 2 year anniversary from when I picked up my tough as nails betta, Spider Man. Spider Man replaced blue thunder who died prematurely due to my ignorance in keeping these wonderful fish.

Spider Man has survived water temps dropping to as low as 52 degrees and having to remain in his 2.5 gallon home with a dead crowntail (hotdog) who died while i was a way on vacation for 3-4 days. I have since kept him alone so he had a larger tank...Prior I had a divider to keep the 2 males separated.

I want to move him into a larger home but he is doing well where he is, so why mess with success. He is very socialable and loves to come flair up at me when I visit him.

Happy birthday, Spiderman! What a cutie. I would love to see him in a bigger tank, but most importantly with a filter and heater (I'm not sure if you have either, but it bears repeating!). For every betta that beats the odds and survives in a small, unheated/filtered bowl, there are 10s of bettas who succumb to the conditions after only a few weeks or months. The one time that I would mess with success might be now. ;)
