How much Eco-Complete Subtrate?
Well, since I bought my 30g bowfront aquarium today (WOO!), I've been thinking about going ahead and purchasing some EcoComplete this month since I have some left over money this month. But, I'm not sure how much I should get.
I want to have a planted tank, so I'm thinking 3 or 4 inches in depth? Using a substrate calculator Lady Hobbs posted, it said 64lbs. So, I'm thinking I'll get 60lbs of EcoComplete.
Does that sound right? Just want to make sure I'm not getting way too much, but I also want enough!!! I'm thinking when I had my 20g long, I only had 40lbs of EcoComplete, and they have just about the same footprint - the 30g bowfront just has a little more of a footprint.

I have 2 bags in 20g long, 3 bags sounds right for 30g. Try 2 bags first and see how that goes, might not even need a 3rd one. Don't need to keep the substrate that thick 4" is a bit much!

Alrighty! I'm going to get 2 bags now since they're pretty expensive, and then get another if needed.

Ellen, I had 4 in a 75gal at one point. I'd go with 2 for your 30gal. You may not even need the full second bag.

Think the cheapest I found them locally was at petsmart.

I've found them on Petco.com for about $16 right now on sale. I'm going to get two of those and an API Master Test Kit (also on sale) so I can scoop up the free shipping as well. Yay!!
Thanks, ILMGB!! That's good to know. :)
