Out Of Date Fish Food - Is It Dangerous?

I have been handed some goldfish food which has originally came from a Pet Shop free of charge.

The expiry dates on the food range from September 2011 on the Tetra Goldfish flakes to April 2005 (!) on the Supa Ant Eggs (they're even in the old-style Supa tub!).



In total I have 6 tubs of food that are all out of date, however I would like to know if it's just a case of binning them of if they have any use or can be used at all.

Obviously, I wouldn't eat something that has a best before date of 2005 on it, but i'm not sure how strict these dates are for fish food (in the case of the September 2011 Tetra Goldfish flakes).

I'd like to stress that I have no intention of feeding my fish anything that would cause them any ill health just for the sake of saving £5-10.

No,just it is past peak nutritional value.Here is the thing,people buy large quanities of fish food,and when opened it continues to loose it's max nutritional value.The longer it sits,the worst the vitaman life is.

I'd toss the stuff more than a year old. You aren't losing any money on it anyway.
