  1. Default My 46 FW tank

I just discovered this part of the forum and thought I would share some photos of my newly planted tank. First attempt with plants so hopefully I won't kill them all.

Looks good. A black background would really make the plants pop.

What are you planning on using for ferts?

I really like the look of the black substrate

I totally aggree with 850R, with a black background as well, the plants and fish would stand out a lot more
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

I wouldn't even know where to start as far as getting a black background, but it would look very cool.
I mixed in some API First Layer Pure Laterite in with the substrate. Is it any good?

Never used laterite, but a black BG is available at any LFS.

Paint would require emptying and moving the tank. Not sure I have the energy for that. But I will check out the lfs. Not sure if I have enough maneuverability behind my tank to set anything up though. Guess I should have thought about this before. I didn't even know people painted their tanks till I started reading the threads. Must look awesome.
