  1. Smile laurun3's 29g BioCube Journal

This aquarium was actually set up in June, so I thought i better get on this!

(06-3-11) Started purchasing supplies for my new tank.

(06-4-11) Upgraded to a 29g BioCube and started cycling with fish. Please note: I started this process before this forum introduced me to fishless cycling.

A few days later I had to order a new tank due to a leak in the back...Tear downs suck!!!

At this time, my plant list included the following:
    -Christmas Moss
    -Marimo Moss ball
    -Some type of Anubias
-Some random plant in the back I later trashed

    My substrate included the following:
    -1 Layer of flourite
    -1 Layer of large pebbles

Super ugo right? Thus I decided to trash the pebbles for sand. I also trashed the "shrunken head" and picked up a few more plants.

(08-28-2011) Constructed a DIY Christmas Moss wall.

    Materials:
    -Scissors
    -Plastic Canvas (Black)
    -Christmas Moss
    -Plastic Cord

Another piece of canvas was put on top, to encase the moss, after I finished cutting my openings.

(8-29-11) Ordered some flame moss oh yeah.

(8-31-11) Ordered a SilenX Fan Kit 60mm because my stock fans were making ungodly noises.

  2. Default SilenX Fan Kit 60mm Mod

    Ok here we go...

(10-8-11) Time to install the new fans.

    :-)

First, I took the splash guard off, and removed the plate the directs the air flow. I then unplugged the fans and removed the screws.

The new fans were placed in the same orientation as the stock fans.

Please note: I had to pick up some longer screws, and washers, from the hardware store to install these fans. Rubber "shock absorbers" were placed in the holes, above each screw, after the fans were in place.

I also had to file a small opening in the hood so I could pull my cords through. I used some plumber's tape to help seal the opening.

Lastly, I reassembled the plate and splash guard. Done and done.

  3. Default Progress Updates

(10-25-11) Ordered (2) Java Ferns (Narrow leaf) and some surface varieties.

    (10-26-11) Christmas Moss wall update

Starting to look good now that I'm getting the algae under control.

    (10-26-11) Aquascape update.

I had to trim a lot of plants back so it's looking a little bare at the moment.

    Frog ballet.
