I think you need fish that will make a mess for all those CoryCats - MuckyFish A pair of discus ought to do the job, I should get you a set of six but wouldn't want to overstock your tank :-) - MuckyFish

William if you were to suggest fish to setup in my 29g tank, what would you put in? I'd just like something with some nice colours and fish that get along.

I'd like to have a school of some type of fish, i like seeing them swim together

    and then whatever else!

    What do you think?

I think I would go for a simple well planted setup without to many species present.

You can click many of the species name (the blue ones) for more pics.

One such setup would be the following.
    10 - 20 Cardinal tetra
    10 Marbled Hatchet fish
    4 Blue rams
1 pair Brostlenosed catfish or Farowella catfish.

This will give you a peaceful, colorful and beautiful setup. The 4 rams can be substituted for a pair of kribs or African Butterfly fish

Some will tell you that the kribs are to aggressive but you won't have any problems in a well planted tank and ou buy them when they are small. I have kept them in similar setups (fish and size) many times without a setup.

thanks alot william, really appreciaite it :D

are most of those fish pretty common and available at most fish stores?

Yes. Except for the Farowella catfish that are a bit more rare. The Marbled Hatchet fish can also be hard to find sometimes but you should be able to find some type of hatchet fish.

William i will be getting the cardinal tetras soon and was wondeirng how many do i buy first?

like 3-4 then let the tank settle in for a week, or get all 10 at first?

I know that some people don't agree with me but I always think it's best to get all the fish you are going to get of the species at once. It helps avoid aggression within the population. So i'll say get all 10 at once.

But if that is the first fish you but in the tank I recommend you get 2 guppies or something similar first to hel the tank cycle and than wait a little longer before getting the cardinal tetras. or perhaps the bristlenosed catfish.

ive currently got 4 red velvet swordtails in there right now that have been cycling the tank for over a week now.

when should i buy the cardinals?

I would wait untill it had been two weeks since you added the swordtails.
