Today I counted the nuber of shrimp and I think that they're dying. I counted only 7 out of twelve cherry shrimp. Everything looks good and they have been eating...I wonder what's up.

After a month, I still lack baby shrimp. I read online that the Red Cherry shrimp like to mate right after they lose thier exoskeleton. Well I counted three of those in the water and my hopes are up. Should i replace the filter intake cover to prevent suck-up? I have had different thoughts about this because I have so many plants for them to hand onto. Also the cover kinda slows down how much water gets circulated.

Do you think that it is possible to have 9 female shrimp and no males?

I would definately put a sponge pre-filter over the in-let tube. Those babies are really small and they do swim up into the flow of the filter.

Easy way to save your shrimp from the impeller of doom, take an aquaclear sponge (meant for hob filters) and cut a slit in it, then put the hob intake in it. That will save your shrimp from the filter and at the same time the sponge will become a good source of food your shrimp will scavenge and feed off of.

Today I counted two dead shrimp lying on the bottom. I began to question whether or not I should add an air stone or not.

Also got some pretty wierd algea growing on the glass this is like very fine hairs.

Anybody have ideas on what good shrimp pellets are? They have not been eating any of the bottom feeder pellets i put in and the flakes leave an oil spot on the surface.

Took a test of the water and all of the readings seemed good according to the side of the bottle. Then why the deaths??

I thought breeding shrimp was easy?

Hair algae, I had that. I used a turkey baster and pulled it out.

A food my cherries love is Shrimp Cuisine my Hikari. Small pellets which sink to the bottom when placed under the water. Don't over feed! a few every other day will be enough as long as the shrimp have algae and some kind of plants to munch on.
Losing a couple of shrimp is common place. If it persists than you'll have to get into why alot more. Copper test kit to eliminate that killer would come in handy.

Adding an air stone and pump is always a good idea. I did.
