Simple light hood/canopy
I'm setting up a 20 gallon long planted tank and decided that it needed a canopy. This is what I came up with

I'm just finishing a canopy for one of my tanks, but I think I like your design betterIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Nothing says homemade like corner trim. Unless you custom cut some hardwood and miter in multiple directions. But, if you can do that, you have the skills to not need corner trim.
For the rest of us, fill any gaps with filler, sand, seal, sand, paint.

Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.
