  1. Default Okay to keep rainbow cichlid in a 20 long

My firemouth got mean and chased my rainbow cichlid out of all the hiding spots in my 72 gallon tank. Rainbow's sister died apparently from stress and some fin nipping. I know the 20 gallon is less than ideal but he is eating and showing beautiful coloration now. The rainbow is about 3" long but I don't think hell catch up in size to the firemouth who is about 4". Not sure what to do. I like both fish equally.

  2. Default

I would say that a 20 would be fine for a rainbow cichlid,as I had one in a 20 for four months with a three inch blood parrot.

  3. Default

I may try to reintroduce him if I get some dithers or maybe some other small cichlids. He doesn't seem to happy in the 20 but at least he's safe.
