Long story short after losing a stock of neon tetra's during cycling I decided to pick up some ammonia and do a fishless cycle.
well day one:
Nitrates:5ppm (unsure why)
Current temp: 82F
I am going to be testing daily because I am going log things daily into a spreadsheet then put everything into a neat little graph.
Thanks all I will keep this updated with progress.
The stocking list for this venture is hopefully going to be
12 fivebanded barbs
6 bronze corys (unless someone can give another variation that looks good)
1 center piece fish (GBR/BR, Gourami or something else)
10 Cherry/ghost shrimp

Do you plan to plant this tank? What kind of filtration do you currently have? Please post pics when you're ready ... I'd love to see them ...
20 gal. high: planted; 8 white cloud minnows, 10 RCS, 2 blue shrimp, several snails; AC50, Azoo air. 65 gal: planted; 7 rosy barbs, 6 glofish,, 2 zebra danios, 6 rosy red (fathead) minnows, 3 dojo loaches, several snails; AC110 x 2.
It is a 29gal and there are currently plants in the tank. I have a few amazon swords, some anacaris (sp?) and a Java Fern i think is what it is called.
the filtration is a Aquaclear 70 with sponge and two bags of biomax. I was advised by someone here I can't recall who to take out the charcole and throw in another bag of biomax.
I will try to post pics this weekend. I am currently looking for a T5 light set up so my plants can have more light.
pH atleast 6 maybe lower
Definitely ditch the charcoal. A healthy tank does not need it.
8 tanks running now:
1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.
At this point I have finalized the stocking list for now.
15 fivebanded barbs
6 leopard corys
10 cherry shrimp
1 krib for a centerpeice fish.
Now does anyone see an issue keeping all this in a 29gal?
I used aqadvisor and it's saying i am 115% stocked
with 50% water changes each week I should be able to manage.
The krib might eat your shrimp...
I have panda corys, have you seen them? They are adorable!! They're about the same size as the leopard corys, but have markings like a panda.
Planted 55 G w/ Harlequin Rasboras, Panda Cories, Honey Sunset Gouramis, and RCS
I was looking at those also but I think I like the markings on the Leopard more. To bad different corys don't school together.
honestly if the krib does that's fine. I might skip the cherry shrimp and just add ghost shrimp then they become cheap snack and lets the krib hunt.

This is my 29gal. I know it's still pretty bare but I figure while I am waiting I can figure out how I want everything set up.
This is a link to my account where you can see the pics. They won't upload for some reason.
