  1. Default Calcium readings

I picked up an elos ca test kit today. I got a reading of 500 to 550 on the approximate test .I did not use the precision kit. The instructions say that it should be around 250?

From everything I've read on here cal should be around 420-460 I believe, I however don't actually test for it because I don't really have anything that requires perfect levels, so i just trust my salt mix to do its thing lol. I've never heard 250 though.

I was going from memory when I said 250. I know that isnt right and is likely very low. I need an alk test now to be sure things are in the right proportion before taking any steps.

I would also recommend a Mag test kit as well

Once I started testing and maintaining my Mag between 1300 and 1350, I almost completely stopped getting any swings in my Cal and dKH. It can also help to stablize your PH.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
