DIY 75 Gal Stand Questions
Hubby is trying to stand building us a stand for our 75 gal tank we are getting this weekend. I have a couple of questions for the "pros" at this.
1- Are 2X4's really sturdy enough to hold the weight of a tank ?
2- Do you have to do anything to your floor boards in your house so they don't "sink" from the weight of the tank?
TIA!

As long as you have direct wood to wood contact from the tank to the floor, 2 X 4s are more than strong enough. Below is how I framed the stand for my 120 gallon tank

Your floor should be strong enough to hold the approx 850lbs of your full tank and stand. Some things you can do to make sure is to place your tank next to a exterroir or load baring wall, or to make sure the tanks sits at a right angle to the floor joyces to spread the weight over more of the framingIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
