I've never had blood parrots before, but guess what? I went and got myself three of them! They are awesome. Thank you! I also got a gold severum and a 6 inch Geophagus Jurupari! I spent $50 on the geo, which I'm kinda sick about, but when they're this size they are so beautiful, and hard to come by. I do want to get a few more severums. Do all severum colors and sizes do well with another? Thanks again Lady Hobbs. Your experience is invaluable.

Ouch. Slow down. That's a 55 you have heard, not a 200 gallon. You are already maxed ou!!! Now what ya gonna do? You have the severum that "may" grow to 10", the Geophagus Jurupari! that will grow to 10" and your parrots that generally run around 6" but have been known to get larger.

The severum and parrots would have been plenty but now you have that Jurapari and all bets are off with him. I think you will wish you hadn't gotten him, honestly. I think he will get too large for your tank but fortunately it's written he is at least not too aggressive.

OH......just read he's not with the parrots and Severum? That's great!! Hope you love your little parrots as much as I love mine. They're such neat guys.

    STOP SCARING ME! lol

lol. Didn't mean to scare you. I was considering putting the Juruparin in with the blood parrots though. At this size I do feel its manageable but trust your opinion not to do it.

Also, you're saying there's not room for another severem to add to my 55g tank with three blood parrots and a gold severum?

I wouldn't. I know my 5 parrots take up all my 55 gallon. They could not share the tank with even one severum. You might be able to put the parrots with the bleeding heart tetras, albino cory cats, albino tiger barbs, and pleco. And have the Severum and the Juruparin together.

But a 10" fish in a 55 is really pushing it to the limits so I'd be very careful from here on out and don't buy any more.

The buttikoferi needs to go asap, there's no way it will share the tank when it gets bigger. Everything else will be killed, and even then a 55 is too small for an adult.
If the pleco in the other 55 is a common or sailfin it will also quickly outgrow the tank.

I was afraid to hear that. The butterkoferi is literally dime sized. The three parrots and the severum are three inches each. How much havoc can the butterkoferi cause at this stage? I guess better to part with now then later, huh?

Thanks for looking out for my tanks best interest. The new tank is looking really good right now with the blood parrots and the gold severum. If I were to put barbs in there do you think it would mess with the harmony? I wouldn't want them to nip the fins of the slow moving parrots.

No clue how quickly the buttikoferi will grow, but like most cichlids they're pretty harmless until they reach maturity. Adults are simply killers; their territory is larger than most aquariums and anything that can't escape is doomed.
