My nightmare day. Very disappointing.
So I found a beautiful 46 bowfront aquarium on sale at Petsmart. I was so excited to find one that I could afford (sorta..the student loan payment can wait right?)
I go to pick it up and they tell me "OH we don't have anymore, just the floor model." Ok I will wait. "Oh we don't have anymore coming in for 3 weeks and they won't be on sale then. The floor model is the exact same.." blah blah blah they went on about how the aquariums dont come wrapped anyway so what is the difference.
In my excitement to have found a tank I could afford I caved. They loaded it into the car and I had my dad come help me get it out. Well it was a much bigger project then expected as my TV had to be moved and once we got it all apart we couldnt get the tv working again.. it took allllll afternoon to get the tv back working and the tank in the house and on the stand.
Then.... we notice the door wont close. The door of the stand was damaged and it was missing the parts to put in the shelves. I call petsmart. At first they say "nothing they can do" after I insist they start calling around to other petsmarts and find one with a stand.. but its 45 minutes away. The manager tells me I can go trade my stand, she spoke with the other manager who checked to make sure the other stand was in working order.
I get my dad back over.. he helps me load the stand, I drive 45 minutes to another petsmart... Their stands are damages also!!!!!! In worse shape then the one I have. By this time I am so angry. I drive another 45 mins back to the original petsmart... they say there is nothing they can do except let me return the stuff and IF I still want the tanks when they come in 3 weeks from now, I can still have the sales price
Oh ya, but you have to bring back the tank too because they were sold together.. so now I have to call my dad back over a THIRD time to help me load up the tank and they will have to do this all over again three weeks from now.
Basically I spent the entire day driving around and setting up for a tank that I don't have and who knows if I will have. I am pretty leary about that stand if it is so easy to damage.
There is no other dealer in my area that sells the 46 bow fronts. :(
Just thought I'd vent. I bet you all have had horror stories also.

Sorry your day didn't turn out like you had hoped.
Buying a set-up with damage already done to it isn't fun at all. Glad you were given an option.Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..

If they were out of stock on a sale item, they should have offered you one of the next shipment at the sale price immediately. That's just extremely poor customer service. If they refused and you were forced to settle for a floor model, you should have gotten an additional discount on it.

I am sooooo sorry you had such a horrible day, and I am a Murphy so if anyone can relate it's me...we too bought a Fluval 46 bowfront not long ago, a beautiful show tank it is, got it all set up seeded from another tank, gravel and all going into the new one, even had the filter media from the old one, because the old one broke, whole reason for this long story, anyway moved our fishies over, plugged everything in, kept our fingers crossed and because of Murphy's law or so I choose to believe we had water all over our floor, it turns out the seal and impeller inside the fluval filter is faulty, it is now 30 minutes before the store closes and we are at least that far away. So long story short, I call the store tell them my problem and that I will be there in about 35 minutes, they say it will have to wait until tommorrow because they close in 20 minutes at this point, I said really, you can't wait because I could probably get there in 25 minutes, pls wait. So after a bit of agrument they say okay, we will wait...sad part to all of this story is I used to work there
I hope this helps, sometimes it just helps to vent to get it off your shoulders and on someone elses.Karen

I bet your dad isn't doing hand springs over HIS day either! Honestly, what is wrong with PetSmart? Having to return the tank because it sits on a stand is stupid.

The other day over here in france at the french version of petco, I was buying dog food, I couldn't buy the same flavour for both bags so I have two the same size and brand.
The lady at the register wouldn't stamp our card for two, only one as we had to buy the same flavour.
The supervisor came over straight away and told the check out lady that she had to give us a stamp for both, it was obviously common sense that the lady lacked.
Next time talk to a supervisor.
