Live Aquaria is good for buying fish but not for information.

I say a Black Ghost Knife would be just fine in a 75 gallon. I have heard of them getting fairly large, but it should still be fine in your tank.

If you are a beginner, I'm not sure I would recommend Discus.

Yeah, Im starting to get that impression. I dont think I am going to go that route after all mostly based on the price per fish and knowing I need quite a few of them in order for them to be happy. Tank mates for Black Ghost knife? Safe to assume cichlids are out of the question?

If you are going to get a black ghost I would suggest some top dwellers. Maybe a school of rainbow fish since they get a decent size and won't get nomnom'd by the knife fish.

Some of the more peaceful cichlids would probably work fine w/ your BGK. Maybe a Severum, Angels, or a Uaru. You may also want to look into some of the dwarf cichlid species.
