Sengal Bichicrs are a cool looking predator that will fit in your tank. Or you could do what Lady Hobbs said and have african cichlids.

Its wasnt easy to leave it empty all this time but buying my house was pretty important as you might imagine. Im open to all opinions and options. There is so much out there so I dont even know where to start looking. That's why I figured i'd just ask you guys and then read up on what ideas you throw out. Keep 'em coming!

My suggestion would be to surf the web a little find a fish you like and see what type of tank you can build around that.

Kind of how I came to the whole wanting a gar. I read I could keep needle nose gar in a 75 gal tank. Is this true?

Does anyone have experience with Black ghost knife fish?

A black ghost will outgrow your tank too, unfortunately. I would love to keep one but I don't have room for anything bigger than a 75 at the moment.

No true Gar species can be kept in a 75 gallon for life. At most you would get about 2-3 years out of it, then would either have to rehome the fish or upgrade.

As of right now I am leaning towards Discus or some kind of cichlids. Its getting difficult and confusing to know what I can keep in my tank as the website I am using says I can keep Black Ghost Knife but you guys say I cant?

Certainly not saying anyone here doesnt know what they are talking about but Im getting different info from different places. I would like to try and keep a few discus (4 or so) along with the BGK. ??

Black ghosts have the potential to get over a foot long and discus need pristine water and a well established tank, not to mention they should be kept in a species tank. What about a group of eartheaters? Geophagus jurupari, red head tapajos, or anything in the guinacara family won't disappoint.
