we just re thought the stocking and relized it would be overstocked. instead we will do 6 total serpas, 6 total neons and 10 corries, as well as the angel and blue ram.

Time for some more pictures. Right now were just seeing if the plants from the 55 gallon will recover. Most aren't looking well, they leaves are thin and kind of yellow, but they were under lit in the 55 so hopefully with the better light and good substrate they will color up in a few days.

The amazon sword and java ferns we picked up last night look great.

Also, I'm noticing some greyish/ black algae on some of the plants. It was on them from the 55 gallon. Is there a way to safely remove it, or will it go away on its own now that the plants are in better conditions.

It is most likely brush algae, dose some Excel it will kill it out and aide in plant growth. The yellowing and pale thin leaves are also a sign of nutrient deficiency...pick up some liquid ferts for them

Today we picked up some flora pride for a liquid fert. We couldn't find any excel locally so we ordered some from amazon.com and will get it Wednesday.

We also picked up 2 more plants, which will be the last plants for a while until things start to grow in. We got a nice healthy green crypt and a bright green Ludwigia palustris. We know the ludwigia is a moderate light plant, but in researching it found it is highly adaptive and great for beginners so we thought we would give it a try.

The brush algae is slowly starting to go away and things are starting to color up.

Made a bad move today. Added 6 neons to go with the 1 neon in the tank, and 1 wasn't looking so good shortly after being added. Next thing I knew our angel fish swallowed it whole. I never once thought he would eat them. I know it was a possibility, but he had been with them for the last 2 years with no problems. I'm gonna try and take the rest back tomorrow if he doesn't eat them, we unfortunantly don't have another freshwater tank going other then a goldfish tank.

So what would be a good schooling fish to add to the tank that the angel won't eat? We have 6 serpas and 3 corries (soon to be 10) and want a school of 5 or 6 of something colorful to add to it. Thank you for any suggestions

I would personally just bump up your serpaes or add a small group of dwarf neon rainbows for a splash of blue.
