Small Tank=Small Fish

I think it is funny that a 29 gallon tank is considered small. That is the tank I have and I am keeping everything small also but to a beginner i would see how 30 gallons would be "big".

It's not the size of the tanks, it's how you use them. HMPH!

I guess my 16 and 10 would be considered mirco-machines then.

I have Platys and Guppies in my 29g. I am thinking of getting a Dwarf Gourami when I move though as a centerpiece.

I just recently got into the hobby, Aug 2010, and I know when i was looking for a tank i wanted a bigger tank but not super big so I would not be in over my head. I chose my 29 cause it was in decent shape and it came with most everything I needed.

After researching fish i realized my tank was small. lol. I still enjoy working on it though and I am starting to get into a groove with it.

What Hobbs said about Small Tank = Small fish is right on the money, luckily for me that is what I wanted, small schooling fish. Now my problem is there are so many small schooling fish I am finding I am running out of room!

Stick with larger schools and less species and you'll like your tank better. So many try to add one or two of this and that and they end up with a bunch of unhappy fish and no complete schools.

6 is a "bare" minimum to be considered a school. I think that number should be at least 12.

A 125g might look a little empty with a great white in it. Why not go with a whale shark and really use your space

i have a whale and great white shark and they seem to be doing fine in my one gallon koi bowl
